Siva Dole(temple) Location : Sivasagar
Siva dole is one of the tallest Shiva(Hindu god) temple in the world.Built 300 years back.Center of attraction for all tourist for its gigantic architectural and religious values .
Maha shivaratri is the most celebrated puja of this temple .Thousand of devotees come to the temple in the Shivaratri. Another attraction is "Hare Krishna "kirton in the month of "shawan".
The dole was built by Queen Ambika ,wife of Shiva singha,in the year of 1734.It is not only one of the most sacred place in North East India ,also the beauty of the place beyond large pond "Sivasagar tank ".Shiva dole is 180 feet tall and 195 feet in diameter.It is caped seven feet high large Golden dome ,called "kolosi"one the top most part of the dole.The walls of the temple are sculptured with statues of numerous Hindu Gods and Godesses.The two other doles in same campus are Bishnu dole and Devi dole.
Shiva dole is pride of not only Sivasagar but also whole Assam.This giant temple is located few feet higher than the normal town level.
